Vivian (Cooper) Langille, 92, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2011 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge from complications after a stroke.
She is survived by her son David Langille and his wife Lorrie, of Northbridge, MA. Vivian enjoyed a very close relationship with her only grandchild, Emily Langille, also of Northbridge, where she lived for the past 4 years. Vivian is also survived by her brother Robert Cooper and his wife JoAnn of Astoria, IL; her niece Roberta Tomlinson of Cuba, IL; her cousin Margaret Steinwald of Libertyville, IL, and her sister-in-law Edith (Langille) and her husband Dr. Thomas Baldwin, of Beaver Falls, PA.
Vivian was born February 2, 1919 in Astoria, Illinois to the late David and Helen (Merrill) Cooper. She graduated from MacMurray College in 1941 and still enjoyed the friendship of her college suitemates. She taught business subjects in several Illinois high schools before her marriage in 1951 to Vernon Langille, who predeceased her in November of 2000. With Vernon and David, Vivian moved to Rome, Italy, and traveled extensively in Europe before
returning to the states to settle in Hudson, Ohio, where she lived for more than 35 years. Over the years, Vivian made and kept many friends whose love and companionship brought her much happiness. She kept in touch with her friends around the world through extensive letter writing. Vivian also loved to read and to watch sports on TV.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Beaumont, and the friends Vivian made there, for insuring her last months were pleasant.
In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of her having survived two bouts of cancer, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

at the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton, MA.
A private service with Vivian's family will be held in Astoria, Illinois at a later date.
