Victoria F. (Grebenstein) George, 89, of Upton, died Monday, October 2, 2017 in Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge, after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Theodore F. George, who died in 1994 after 33 years of marriage.
Mrs. George was born in Newton, the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Slocomb) Grebenstein, and was a lifelong Upton resident. She was a graduate of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, the Worcester Art Museum School, and Traphagen School of Design in NY, and was a talented commercial artist. Working as art director for Dapol Plastics/Worcester Toy Co. and Tivoli Toys, Inc. of Worcester for over 30 years, she was commended by Walt Disney Studios for her work on projects with them. She then worked for the Shropshire Curiosity Shoppe in Shrewsbury for 20 years before retiring.
An active member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton, Mrs. George had been a Sunday School director and bell ringer and also sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Upton Historical Society and contributed artwork to fundraising events.
She leaves one son, Richard George of Upton; two daughters, Leona Miller of Douglas and Lucinda Pond of Upton; four grandchildren, Melissa Corbin of TX, Corey George of Auburn, Stefanie Pond of Upton, and Megan Miller of Douglas; and three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Charlotte, and William Corbin of TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the United Parish Food Pantry, Box 382, Upton 01568 or to Tri-Valley Meals on Wheels, 10 Mill St., Dudley 01571.
Service Details
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m.
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main St., Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
