Thomas A. Drapeau, a life-long resident of Upton, died at the age of 70, on Saturday, October 15, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late John William Drapeau and Rita Frances (Hanley) Drapeau. Tom is survived by his loving fiancée, Brenda Charles, his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Cindy Drapeau, and their children, Cory and Tiffany of Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind many life-long friends and cousins who recently got together for a family reunion at Tom and Brenda’s house.
Tom was a long-haul trucker who enjoyed traveling the country often accompanied by his sweetheart, Brenda. An avid motorcyclist, Tom loved to go on trips with Brenda to Sturgis, Albuquerque, Daytona, Laconia and Las Vegas. In the winter he enjoyed snowmobiling all over New England and in the summer, he liked to hang out in his pool. Tom was mild mannered, had a happy outlook on life and always greeted friends with a smile. He loved animals and could often be found throwing the ball for the many dogs he owned and those that were always welcome at his home. When he rested, he usually had his cat Squeak on his lap. Often called Tinkerer Tom, he enjoyed working in his garage fixing anything that was broken and operated heavy equipment. He even helped build Red Farm Golf Course with Tom and Pat Davidson.
He loved to work in his yard. He was the local problem solver if a tree needed to be cut down and his bonfires were legendary. They could be seen from a far away as Princeton. Tom loved to frequent the Grafton Flea Market every Sunday searching for that deal he couldn’t resist, bringing it home with pride and perhaps some trepidation to show Brenda.
Tom will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A graveside service for Tom will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, October 29, at Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
