Theron L. Pope, Jr

Theron L. Pope, Jr., 84, a lifelong resident of Upton, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Mary K. (Spencer) Pope.
Mr. Pope was born in Upton, a son of the late Theron and Priscilla (Cooper) Pope. He was a graduate of Grafton High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a press operator at Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for 40 years, retiring in 1992. A communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Upton, he enjoyed competing in numerous area bowling leagues.
In addition to his wife of almost 62 years, he leaves five children, Terry White and her husband Rick of Bellingham, Steven Pope and his wife June of Douglas, Tina Pope of Grafton, NH, David Pope of Douglas, and Patty Maher and her husband Lester of Bellingham; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 (www.alz.org).

St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon Street, Upton.
Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
