Teresa E. (Roughan) Dodd, 83, a long-time Upton resident and well-known soloist, died Monday evening, December 7, 2009 in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westboro after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was the widow of George V. Dodd, who died in 1994 after 41 years of marriage.
Mrs. Dodd was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel (McKeown) Roughan. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Peter's High School in Worcester and had lived in Upton since 1956. A communicant of Holy Angels Parish, she was a talented singer who served as the church soloist for over 40 years. She also sang with the Worcester Defense Hostess Club, a Jewish War Veterans organization, performed on special occasions at the former Spag's store in Shrewsbury, and entertained the residents at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge for over 25 years.
She leaves two sons, Thomas Dodd and his wife Catherine of Upton and Charles Dodd and his wife Phyllis of Holden; five daughters, Deborah Dodd of Hopedale, Susan Johnson and her husband Donald of Millbury, Christine Baldiga and her husband David of Upton, Kathleen Olson and her husband Donald of Uxbridge, and Margaret DeFazio and her husband Frank of Northbridge; and 11 grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Thomas, Fred, Joseph, John, Ruth, and Rev. Richard Roughan, Mary McGee, Gertrude Foran, and Arleen Toomey.

Funeral services Saturday, December 12, 2009, from the
Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton,
with a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Milford Street, Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
