Sylvia R. Crosby

Sylivia's services have been announced below:

Sylvia R. Crosby, 97, of Westborough, and formerly of Upton, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022, in her apartment at the Whitney Suites in Westborough, where she has lived for the past three years.

Sylvia was born in Milford and lived in Upton for most of her life with her loving husband Earle who she met in Upton when she was 15.  She and Earle were married for 75 years before he passed in 2018. She was also preceded by her siblings, Leon Prescott, Evelyn Wright, and Mildred Mitchell.

Sylvia is survived by her three children, Mary Ellen Parker and her husband Glenn of Fort Myers, Florida, Ronald Crosby and his wife Kathryn of Westport, MA, and James Crosby of Uxbridge, MA.

Sylvia was known as Nana, Nana Banana, Grandma and Grammy and leaves nine grandchildren, Carley, Guy, Heather, Michael, Darrin, Erin, Kelley, Amy Lyn and Jeff and sixteen Great-Grandchildren, Parker, Austin, Kelsy, Max, Jimmy, Brianna, Keith, Nicolas, Grady, Emily, Ian, Hannah, Dexter, Melissa, Michael and Matthew.

Sylvia graduated from the Upton High School and got married soon after as Earle was being shipped out to fight in WWII. She was an active member of the United Parish church in Upton for many years and was proud of her time as a Deaconess at the church where they had many friends.  She sewed straw hats at the Kartiganer’s Hat Company in Upton. She was also a member of the Upton Historical Society where she worked on the book about the “History of Upton.” She and Earle were happy when they were singing songs together from the 40s and 50s and Sylvia always remembered all the words to the songs.

Sylvia always had a beautiful warm smile and she was loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in the United Parish of Upton Church, 1 Church St. Upton.  Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Upton.  Facial coverings are required while in the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Pickering and Son Upton Funeral Home.
