Susie T. (Diomedes) Leland

Susie T. (Diomedes) Leland, 93, of Upton, died Wednesday, October 22, in Milford Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of George Leland, who died in 1982 after 49 years of marriage.
Mrs. Leland was born in Forggia, Italy, a daughter of the late Luigi and Maria Teresa (Schiavone) Diomedes, and resided in Upton most of her life. She was employed at the former Kartiganer Hat Factory in West Upton for many years and was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish. She enjoyed Bingo and going to Foxwoods and idolized her many grandchildren.
She leaves three sons, George Leland, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Hudson, Robert Leland and his wife Ann of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard Leland and his wife Annette of Warwick, RI; three daughters, Barbara Marques of Whitinsville, Joan Bernardi and her husband Donald of Clermont, FL, and Susan Bonina and her husband Anthony of Upton, with whom she resided; one sister, Olga Blair of Milford; 20 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Service Details
Funeral Mass Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Milford Street, Upton.Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
