Stedman F. “Ted” Briggs, Jr., 82, of Upton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at home. He was the husband of Susan A. (White) Briggs.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Stedman and Hester (Heigham) Briggs. He was educated in Brighton schools and was a graduate of Brighton High School.
During the Vietnam Era he served with the United States Army.
Ted was employed for many years as a truck driver for Damon IEC in Needham and later drove for First Student Bus Company in Westborough for over 20 years.
He was a member of the Upton Board of Health currently serving as the chairman and previously served on the Upton Zoning Board.
Ted enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting milk bottles, taking trips to Maine, watching wrestling, country music, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was a Jack of All Trades.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Chris Briggs and his wife, Stephanie, of Franklin and Trace Rossman and her husband, Andy, of Raleigh, NC, one brother, Robert Briggs of Lakeville and two grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Briggs.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, at 10:00 A.M. in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, October 3, from 4 to 7 P.M.
