Shirley L. (Merrill) O'Connor, 86, of Hopkinton, died Monday, February 1, 2010 in her home. She was the wife of Irving P. "Pat" O'Connor and a founder of Evergreen Haven Garden Center.
Mrs. O'Connor was born in Springfield, a daughter of the late Amos A. and Margaret L. (Gunther) Merrill. She had lived in Hopkinton for 60 years and with her husband owned and operated Evergreen Haven Garden Center until retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of the Upton Woman's Club.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she leaves three children, Allan M. O'Connor and his wife Kathy of Hopkinton, Linda Morgan-O'Connor and her husband Ric of Millbury and Maine, and Glenn O'Connor and his wife Esther of Vermont; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Shaw and her husband Frederick of Monson and Elizabeth Landry of Montague; three brothers, Amos A. Merrill, Jr. of Springfield, Richard Merrill and his wife Patricia of Eldon, MI, and Robert Merrill and his wife Marion of Wilbraham; three grandchildren, Shawn O'Connor and his wife Lisa of Sturbridge, Kristin Tomaso and her husband Jeff of Hopkinton, and Lyric Morgan-O'Connor of Millbury; four great-grandchildren, Taleisha and Ashley Tomaso and Owen and Lucas O'Connor; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Donald and Francis "Buddy" Merrill.

Service Details
Private funeral services are at the convenience of the family,
followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
