Scott M. Ferguson, 87, a longtime Upton resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband to the late Dorothy F. (Gaughan) Ferguson, who died in 2021.
Born in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Gordon and Helen (Lawson) Ferguson. He was raised and educated in Southborough and attended Fay School and St. Mark’s School. He then moved to Hudson for a short period of time and graduated from Hudson High School.
Scott was employed as a toll test man for New England Telephone & Telegraph for 30 years.
He enjoyed hunting in Canada and restoring old tractors and engines. He built his own 1929 Model A Ford from the chassis up. He loved fishing down the cape on his boat. He will be remembered for his kindness to everyone, and his sense of humor.
Scott was also a Master Mason, raised in St. Bernard’s Lodge, and a member of United Brethern Lodge.
He is survived by his children, Hope Stogryn and her husband Daryl, of Brighton, Canada, and Brent Ferguson and his wife Doreen, of Weare, NH; his stepdaughter, Joan Fitzsimmons and her long-time partner John Donovan, of Ashland; six grandchildren, Nathan, Nadia, Mikaela, Isaac, Amy and Paul; and four great-grandchildren, Levi, Lutka, Paxton, and Eowyn.
He is predeceased by his stepson, Richard Fitzsimmons.
His funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, July 7, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
