UPTON - Roy C. Swanson, 87, of Upton, died early Wednesday, October 26, 2005 in Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford after a long illness. He was the husband of Myrtle A. (Davidson) Swanson, to whom he was married for 61 years.
Mr. Swanson was born in Cambridge, the son of the late Carl V. and Esther (Lundmark) Swanson, and had lived in Upton most of his life. A 1935 graduate of Upton High School, he was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran who served as a Technical Sergeant with the Third Airdrome Squadron in the Pacific.
He was a credit manager for Metal Goods division of Alcan Aluminum in Marlborough for about 11 years before retiring in 1982. He had previously worked at the former Knowlton hat shop in West Upton and for Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for many years. He was an active member and former treasurer of the Upton Historical Society.
In addition to his wife, he leaves one son, Brian Swanson and his wife Ruth Rowan of Northborough; a daughter, Linda Doberczak and her husband Bohdan of Ambler, PA; and four grandchildren, Alice and Melinda Swanson of Northborough and Christopher and Alissa Doberczak of Ambler, PA. Another son, Kenneth R. Swanson, died in 1974. He was also the brother of the late Astrid Larkin, Elsa Pearson, Louise Bryant, Ruth Sanborn, and Eleanor Lapworth.
