Rosemarie E. Horton

RoseMarie E. Horton, 84, of Mendon and formerly a longtime Upton resident, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester after a brief illness.

Born and raised in Upton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Corena (Paille) Lapierre.  She was a graduate of Grafton High School Class of 1957 and went on to attend Salter Secretarial School.

Prior to retirement, Ms. Horton was employed as an administrative assistant for T&J Heating and Air Conditioning for 20 years.  Previously, she was a dispatcher for the Upton Police Department for many years, worked in the Superintendent’s Office of the Mendon Upton School System, and for the Upton Board of Health. She had many wonderful memories of this time and would often reflect on them with her family; she was one of the most hardworking and yet humble people you would ever meet.

RoseMarie always looked forward to vacationing with family in the summer at York Beach in Maine, cooking, reading, cheering on the Red Sox, and cherished spending time with her family, friends and especially her two granddaughters. Together, they would enjoy many mornings filled with laughter and conversations over steaming cups of tea. Her kind smile and sparkling eyes, warm hugs, advice and endless desserts and stories will be missed forever.

She leaves behind two beloved children, Sharon Horton of Mendon, and Linda Glesias and her husband Terrence, of Waxhaw, NC; her granddaughters, Emily Marie and Erin Lily Glesias of Waxhaw, NC; her sister, Linda LaBastie and her husband Daniel, of Mendon; and many loved nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her siblings: Francis Lapierre, Roger Lapierre, Florence Pope, Gerald Lapierre, Jospeh Lapierre Jr., and Everett Lapierre. She often spoke about how much she missed them; we are confident they are celebrating the holidays joyously together again.

Her funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 29, in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St. Upton.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

Calling hours are Thursday, December 28, from 4 to 6 PM in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton.
