Ronald H. Hixon, 77, of Upton and Venice, FL, died Monday evening, July 22, 2013 in U Mass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester after an illness. He was the husband of Gail E. (Francis) Hixon, with whom he was married 56 years.
Mr. Hixon was born in Milford, a son of the late William C. and Marguerite E. (Moore) Hixon. He was a machinist with Fenwal in Ashland for 26 years, retiring in 1998. In retirement, he worked for the Upton Cemetery Commission. An active member and deacon of the United Parish of Upton, he also participated in Upton men's softball and senior bowling leagues, and had volunteered with the Boy Scouts and other local youth activities while his children were young. He loved camping and especially enjoyed winters in Florida over the past 12 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves one son, Barry T. Hixon and his wife Donna of Upton; a daughter, Doreen L. Hixon Hall and her fiancé Steven Parker of Whitinsville; three grandchildren, Amanda Hall of Millbury, Danielle Hall of Sutton, and Nathan Hixon of Upton; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William C. "Chet" Hixon, Peggy Lambert, and Eleanor Bosket.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the United Parish Scholarship Fund, Box 382, Upton 01568.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, at 10 a.m.
in the United Parish Church, 1 Church Street, Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home are Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
