Rita I. (Moroney) Usher

April 25, 1922 — February 12, 2006

UPTON - Rita I. (Moroney) Usher, 83, of Upton, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 in Milford Regional Medical Center after having been stricken ill on Friday. Her husband of 54 years, Harry C. Usher, died in 1996.

Born in Upton, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Claire V. (McCarty) Moroney, and a 1940 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Milford. She was a lifelong Upton resident and a communicant of Holy Angels Parish. She loved her pets and especially enjoyed playing Scrabble every day with her sister.

She was a substitute rural letter carrier in Upton and a hat worker at the former Knowlton Hat Factory in West Upton. She also worked at the former family-owned Arcade Market in Whitinsville and Moroney Bros. Market in Upton for several years and provided home day care for many area toddlers for many years.

She leaves one daughter, Susan M. Usher of Upton; two sons, James C. Usher and his wife Lee of Fort Worth, TX and John T. Usher of Upton; a sister, Barbara E. Knight of Upton; three grandchildren, Eric, Andrew, and Katrina Usher of Asheville, NC; and a great-granddaughter, Asanna Usher of Asheville. She was also the mother of the late Paul F. Usher, who died in 1995.

Service Details

Funeral services Friday, February 17, 2006 from the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, with a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Milford Street, Upton.
Burial in Lakeview Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home Thursday, February 16, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m.
