Paul A. W. Baumgarner, 71, of Upton, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in UMass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester after an illness. A retired engineer, he was the husband of Mary Jane (Gilbert) Baumgarner.
Mr. Baumgarner was born in Clearfield, PA, a son of the late Arthur F. and Margaret (Griffith) Baumgarner. He was a graduate of Clearfield High School and Penn State University and had served with the U. S. Army. He lived in State College, PA and worked at Penn State for many years before coming to Massachusetts, where he worked for Waters Associates and then for Digital, Compaq, and Hewlett-Packard before retiring in 2002. A ham radio operator, he lived in Upton since 1980 and was a member and former treasurer of the United Parish of Upton.
In addition to his wife; he leaves three children, Julie Williams and her husband John of DuBois, PA, Eric Baumgarner of Upton, and Karen Foy and her husband Matthew of Milton; 4 grandchildren, Sean Catalano and his wife Kimberly, Shannon Gibson, and Christopher Williams of PA, and Andrea Barker and her husband Derek of NC; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Theodore Baumgarner.
Service Details
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 18, at 10 a.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton, with the Rev. James Hensley officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
