UPTON- Norman J. Sanders, 83, of Upton, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Carmella "Millie" (Campo) Sanders.
Born in Sidnaw, Michigan, he was the son of the late Norman W. and Myrtle E. (Borton) Sanders and was educated in Michigan schools.
During WW II he served with the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Sanders was employed as a maintenance technician for J. W. Harris in South Boston and previously worked at James F. Morse Co. in Boston for 25 years.
Norman was a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, volunteered for Meals On Wheels, was a member of the American Legion, the Upton Heritage Homecoming and the Friends of the Elderly.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Gail M. Cannon of Reading; one son, Norman J. Sanders, Jr., of Everett; one sister, Alice M. Nykanen of Michigan; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St., Upton. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held on Monday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. prior to the funeral Mass at the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton.
