Michael E. Higgins

Michael E. Higgins, 61, of Northbridge, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He is the beloved husband of 15 years to Linda J. (Ciaccio) Higgins.

Born in Norwood, he also leaves behind his father Paul Higgins and his wife Franca of Norwood, and was the son of the late Charlotte (Boyle) Higgins. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his siblings, Robert Higgins and his wife Kate of Milford, Charlene Higgins-Crawford and her husband Kevin of Franklin, Patricia Jandrue and her husband Richard of Norwood, Alex Higgins of Norwood, and Jessica Higgins of Norwood; his uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-niece. He also leaves his beloved German Shepherds, Enzo and Libby.

Raised and educated in Norwood, he then worked over 20 years at Logan Airport and was a proud union member. Michael then pursued an associate degree in Medical Imaging Equipment Technology at ECPI College of Technology in Virginia. He has been employed for 14 years as a Senior Field Service Engineer for Luminex Corporation, where he found many good friends. Michael was a dedicated worker with an incredible work ethic.

Michael most enjoyed spending time with family, playing and traveling with his dogs, or simply relaxing at home. He was extremely family-oriented and would jump at the chance to help out whenever and wherever needed. Anyone who met him soon learned he would stop at nothing to get a laugh or make a person smile. His quick wit was unmatched. Most of all, Michael was a loving, loyal husband and his passing is an enormous loss.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 16, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon Street, Upton.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Monday, April 15, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.
