Maurice M. Hall, Jr.

October 21, 1936 — December 7, 2020

UPTON

Maurice Martin “Tito” Hall, Jr., 84, a lifelong Upton resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Worcester, on October 21, 1936, he was a son of the late Maurice Martin Hall, Sr. and Aurora (Belanger) Hall.  He is the brother of Constance (Hall) Noel of Upton, and the late Muriel (Hall) Frederico, Blanche (Hall) Grenier, Donna Lee Hall and Donald Hall.

The manifestation of his love and devotion to his wife knew no limits and was an inspiration to all who bore witness to this union of these two people.  Maurice was the beloved husband of Joanne (Bates) Hall for 63 years. Loving father of Maurice “Butch” Hall, III of Sutton, Mark E. Hall and his wife Lori of Upton, Jeffrey D. Hall and his wife Lisa of Upton, Denise (Hall) Mazzone and her husband John of Milford, and Kathleen (Hall) Deschenes and her husband Rick of Sutton.  Cherished grandfather to eight granddaughters, Amanda (Hall) Dahrooge and her husband Jamie of Sutton, Danielle (Hall) Clark and her husband Sean of Webster, Nicole and Kathryn Hall of Upton, Lauren Mazzone of Boston, Lindsey (Mazzone) Romano and her husband Scott of Milford, CT and Ashley and Brooke Deschenes of Sutton. Proudest great-grandfather to Julian Thomas and Jacob Ryan Clark, and Hannah Carlene Dahrooge.

Maurice was raised in Upton and worked on the family's dairy farm, Hall’s Dairy and later at the Town Line Dairy.  He was a farmer at heart. Maurice continued his career working for Bay State Abrasives, Upton Fuel & Construction and Summer’s Trucking until his retirement in 2004 at age 68.  Retirement allowed Maurice and Joanne more to spend time with their children and grandchildren.  They enjoyed vacationing in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, The Inns at Mills Falls on Lake Winnipesaukee and Cape Cod for the annual Hall Weekend Celebration. One of his favorite family outings was the annual trip to Canobie Lake Park where he and Joanne would spoil their children, then later grandchildren, with everything and anything the day had to offer.  He spent much of his time researching his family genealogy creating a wealth of data to be handed down to generations to come.

Maurice was a man of great integrity and a true patriot at heart.  He firmly believed in honor, respect and pride.  He was always there to lend a hand when needed no matter what the cost.  He worked hard for his family to provide what was needed.  He always put his wife's and children's needs before his own.  He took great care of his home fixing whatever needed fixing and caring for his lawn enjoying the ride on his John Deere.  He was a passionate historian reading many historical novels and watching many documentaries.  He believed in democracy and was a strong supporter of the “American Way”.

He will be greatly missed by his family. Maurice was a true gentleman defined by his manners and the content of his character.

The Hall family has requested that his funeral Mass at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish and burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Upton, be held privately.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Gabriel’s Building Fund, 151 Mendon St. Upton, MA 01568.
