Matthew J. Furtado, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2025, at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester, Massachusetts, after a brief illness. He was born on December 19, 1963, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and spent his life surrounded by those who loved him dearly.

Matthew was an alumnus of the Massachusetts College of Art, where his passion for creativity truly blossomed. His artistic spirit shone brightly through his hobbies of drawing, model making, and 3D printing. These interests, intertwined with his problem-solving skills, allowed him to express his innovative nature and helped him bring joy to others as he shared his talents.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Matthew were profoundly touched by his thoughtful character. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his beloved wife, Eliza, and their daughter, Rebecca, always ensuring their well-being was his first priority.  He greeted everyone—whether they were janitors, waitresses, or CVS cashiers—with kindness and praise, making them feel valued and appreciated.

Matthew's life was enriched by the bonds he formed with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Eliza and his devoted daughter Rebecca. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Gwyn Shaw, and brother-in-law, Roger Bailey. Together, they will carry forward his legacy of love, humor, and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and George Furtado, and his brothers Jorge and Mark, along with his sister Laura. 

Matthew J. Furtado's memory will endure in the smiles of those he touched and the lessons he imparted about kindness, care, and the importance of family. His presence in our lives was a beautiful gift, and the impact he made will be cherished forever.
