Mary Winifred McNamara, 63, of Holliston, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 5th, 1958, in Wellesley, MA, Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Mary & Thomas Duffy. Mary graduated with a science degree from the University of Missouri. She enjoyed a long and successful career in technology, working many wonderful years as a Network Administrator and Athletic Director for Holliston’s Robert Adams Middle School. She had many friends and acquaintances, all of whom will miss her bubbly personality, sense of humor, great smile and her love of all things great and small. Mary was the best friend anyone could have.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Bob, her son Robert, her daughter and son-in-law Allison and Timothy Owens. She was so proud of her children, their many accomplishments and knows they will do great things in the world. Mary is also survived by her sister Dorothy Gosline, her brother Tom and his wife Nerissa Nields-Duffy. Mary loved all her many nieces, nephews and of course, her dog Parker, who held a special place in her heart.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, July 15, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton.
Her funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, July 16, in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St. Westborough. A gathering will follow the Mass at St. Luke’s Parish Hall to share stories and to celebrate Mary’s life.
Burial will be held privately at a later date.
A special note of appreciation to Dr. Timothy Ernst for his kind, compassionate, innovative care extended to Mary throughout her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pan Mass Challenge, pmc.org, under Timothy Ernst’s annual ride, as a tribute to the memory of Mary McNamara or the Rose Monahan Hospice House vnacare.org/donors.
