Mary Frances (Sadler) French, 95, a lifelong Upton resident, died early Monday, May 25, 2009. She was the widow of James E. French, who died in 1969.
Mrs. French was born in Upton, a daughter of the late Henry S. and Grace (Weir) Sadler. She graduated with honors from Upton High School in 1932 and had worked as a packer in the West Upton hat industry and then as an aide at Cushing Hospital in Framingham until retiring in 1978. She attended the former Upton Unitarian Church, where she had been a member of the Unitarian Women's Alliance, and enjoyed baking, crocheting, and making award-winning braided rugs.
She leaves one daughter, Brenda Thompson and her husband George of Upton; two sons, Gary French and his wife Pamela of Hopkinton, and Leonard French and his wife Shirley of Franklin; three brothers, William and Robert Sadler of Upton, and Frederick Sadler of PA; a sister, Waneta Kuczinski of Upton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Another son, Edward French of Whitinsville, died in 1993.

Service Details
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, at 1 p.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton, with the Rev. Jan Gregory-Charpentier officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
