Marjorie B. Blevins

MENDON

Marjorie B. Blevins of Mendon, MA passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, in the comfort of her home and in the presence of her family.  She was born In Millis, MA on January 9, 1931, to Albert and Selena (Cotnoir) Blaney.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George H. Blevins and her loving son, James T. Blevins.

Marjorie grew up in Bethlehem, NH.  She graduated from Bethlehem High School in 1949.  She went on to graduate from Plymouth Teacher College in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.  Later in her career, in 1975, she earned a master’s degree in early childhood education from Westfield State University.

She enjoyed a fulfilling career as a kindergarten teacher in the West Hartford and Enfield, CT public school systems for a span of thirty years.  Her educational expertise carried over to her faith community as she directed the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program for St Martha’s Church in Enfield, CT for ten years.

Marjorie had many interests and hobbies throughout her lifetime.  Those she pursued with gusto included family gatherings, teaching young children, gardening and daylilies, traveling the USA and beyond and, of course, women’s college (Go Huskies!) and women’s professional basketball.  She lived a worthwhile and purpose filled life for all her 91 years on this earth.

Her family wishes to extend gratitude and thanks to lead nurse, Michael-Ann, and to all the VNA Hospice & Palliative Care team dedicated to the compassion, care, guidance and support shown our family and all the families whom they serve in this most noble of professions.

In addition to her husband and son, Marjorie was predeceased by her brothers Jim and George Blaney and her sister Rita (Blaney) Guarino. Marjorie is survived by her daughters:  April Carroza and husband Paul, Carrie Donohue and husband Bob, Lynn Houskeeper and husband Jim.

Marjorie leaves her precious grandchildren:  Stephanie Johnson and husband Nick, Christie Carroza and boyfriend Jeff, Matthew Donohue and wife Heather, Meaghan Donohue, Michael Donohue, Mark Donohue, Becky Flaeter and husband Joe, Sarah Leacu and husband Dave.

She is also survived by her beautiful great grandchildren:  Evelyn and Colette Johnson, Brayden and Madison Donohue, Benjamin, Abilynn and William Flaeter, George and Julia Leacu.

A private funeral Mass will be held at St Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Upton, MA.
