Marcus L. O'Brien, 89, passed away on March 24, 2010 in Dunnellon, FL after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Josephine Clara (Corazza) O'Brien and a retired financial planner.
Mr. O'Brien was the son of the late Thomas and Genevieve (Sullivan) O'Brien, born on the Silver Leaf Farm in Galesburg, IL, which has been owned by the O'Brien family for over 100 years. He was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1940. A WWII US Army veteran, he worked on the family farm and for the CB&Q Railroad before moving to Florida, where he worked as a financial planner.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, he leaves his brother, Tom O'Brien of Galesburg, two daughters-in-law, Stephanie Frank of Belchertown, MA and Katherine O'Brien of Upton, MA, two beloved grandsons, David O'Brien of Belchertown and Christopher O'Brien of Bloomingdale, IN, a beloved granddaughter, Ashley O'Brien of Upton, and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Gilbert L. O'Brien of Upton, who died in 2001.
