Madeline M. (Mclaughlin) Gallagher

January 8, 1930 — December 25, 2009

Madeline M. (McLaughlin) Gallagher, 79, of Upton, died Friday, December 25, 2009 in St. Antoine's Residence in North Smithfield, RI after a long illness. She was a retired teacher and the former wife of James J. Gallagher, who died in 1983.

Mrs. Gallagher was born in Somerville, a daughter of the late George and Madeline (Sullivan) McLaughlin. She was a graduate of the former Lowell State College and had lived in Upton since 1953. She taught at Memorial Elementary School in Upton for 22 years, retiring in 1995. A communicant of Holy Angels Parish, she was a member of the Ladies Altar Sodality and the Upton Woman's Club. She enjoyed spending summers at Hampton Beach with family and friends and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics sports fan.

She leaves three children, Kathleen M. Pearce and her husband Michael of Falmouth, ME, Christine Radway and her husband Tedford of Rumford, RI, and Brian J. Gallagher and his wife Janice of Upton; a sister, Jean Guinee of Decatur, GA; one brother, John McLaughlin of Centerville; and five grandchildren, Michael Pearce of Falmouth, ME, Stephanie Pearce of Cambridge, Timothy Pearce of New York, NY, and Erin and Meghan Gallagher of Upton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Special Care Unit at St. Antoine's Residence, 10 Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield, RI 02896.

Service Details

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from the funeral home,
with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Milford St., Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, December 28, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m.
