Luella E. (Brownell) Wood, 94, of Upton, died early Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness. She was the widow of Russell Wood, who died in 1969 after 18 years of marriage. A Gold Star Widow, her first husband, George L. Wood, was killed in action in Europe during World War II.
Mrs. Wood was born in Upton, daughter of the late Aubrey and Elberta (Osgood) Brownell. She was a graduate of Upton High School Class of 1940 and Becker College in Worcester. She operated a florist shop in Upton with her husband Russell for many years and later served for 15 years as the director of the Chatham Senior Center on Cape Cod. She was a member of the Grafton Upton Unitarian Universalist Society.
She leaves one son, Russell W. Wood and his wife Patricia of Upton; a daughter, Pamela Overhulser and her husband David of Salem, OR; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.

Private burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in West Upton.
