Leslie Newell Davis, Jr., 79, of Upton and formerly of Newton and Bourne, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at home after an illness. He was the husband of Jeannette H. (Rea) Davis.
Mr. Davis was born in Norwalk, CT, the son of the late Leslie and Lorraine (Bach) Davis. He attended Wesleyan University and the University of Maine and had served stateside with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a resident of Newton for many years before moving to Bourne in 1998 and then recently to Upton. He worked as a free-lance writer and was a published playwrite who loved storytelling. He was a progressive thinker with a great sense of humor and warmth. He was a caring and devoted husband and father and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he leaves two daughters, Sherie Davis and her husband Mark Alciati of Santa Barbara, CA, and Jennifer Davis-Nicoll and her husband Robert Nicoll of Upton; two sisters, Lynn Stietzel of Palo Alto, CA and Lorie Dilendik of Auburn, SC; and his grandson, Jarrett Newell Nicoll of Upton. The family would like to thank his three wonderful caregivers, Deb, Jen, and Yesenia for their dedication and compassion.

Service Details
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29
at 2 p.m. with reception following in the
Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton, 3 Grafton Common, Grafton.
