L. Theresa (Pierce) Whitney, 84, of Upton, died early Friday, June 29, 2012 in Beaumont Nursing Center in Northbridge. She was the wife of Paul H. Whitney, to whom she was married for 65 years.
Mrs. Whitney was born in South Grafton, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Leona T. (Auger) Pierce. She was a graduate of the David Hale Fanning Trade School in Worcester and had lived in Upton for the past 65 years. She worked at the former Kartiganer Hat Company in Upton and then at Bay State Abrasives in Westborough before retiring in 1986. A talented seamstress, she loved children and was a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.
In addition to her husband, she leaves six children, Theresa Bentley of Norton, Paula Plumley and her husband Edward of Holden, Nancy Caisse and her husband Ray of Tyngsboro, June Henneberry and her husband Daniel of Blackstone, Joseph Whitney of Upton, and Janet Taft and her husband Chip of Whitinsville; a sister, Ruth Bazinet of Bare Foot Bay, FL; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Betty Boucher.
The family extends thanks to the staff at Beaumont Nursing Center for their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salmon Hospice, Box 940, Northbridge, MA 01534.
Service Details
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 3, at 11:30 a.m. in
St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon Street, Upton.
Private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton following cremation.
Calling hours at the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton are
from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. prior to the Mass on Tuesday.
