Kenneth E. Usher, 92, a lifelong resident of Upton, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford after an illness. He was the husband of Carolyn (Williams) Usher. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Usher was born in Upton, the youngest and last surviving of thirteen children of the late Frank and Sarah (Chapin) Usher. He was Salutatorian of the Upton High School Class of 1934 and attended Worcester Junior College. A World War II army veteran, he saw action in the Pacific as a sergeant with the 1760th Engineer Special Shop Battalion.
He worked as an assistant payroll supervisor at General Electric Company in Ashland for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He was also licensed as a realtor and was a member of Franklin Lodge of Masons in Grafton, the Beagle Club, and the Upton Historical Society, and a past master of Upton Grange. A member of the First Congregational Church, now the United Parish of Upton, he served the church as a deacon and as moderator for several years and also participated in its men's group and Parish Council.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves one son, Douglas Usher and his wife Linda of Upton; a daughter, Lyn Hussein of Vernon, CT; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Hussein and his wife Barbara of Warrington, PA, Jill Hussein of Boca Raton, FL, and Nathan Kent of Upton; three great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Hussein, Kenneth Hussein, and Kyler Prasad; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11 a.m.
in the United Parish Church, Central Square, Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main Street, Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
