Joseph A. "Pete" Ramsey Sr., 80, of Upton, passed Tuesday, October 24, 2017 surrounded by family after a battle with leukemia. He was the husband of Helen L. (Langevin) Ramsey.
Pete was born in Berlin, NH, the son of the late Arthur G. and Rose (Taillon) Ramsey, and was a graduate of the Notre Dame High School in Berlin. He served many years with the National Guard and worked in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. He lived in Holliston before moving to Upton 17 years ago.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he leaves 4 children, Jan Maglione and her husband Lee of Upton, Nancy Foley and her husband Bob, Joe Ramsey Jr. and his wife Paula, and Jeanne Anastos and her husband Mike, all of Northbridge; a brother, Sylvio Ramsey and his wife Laura of Dover, NH; 8 grandchildren, Bobby, Meaghan, Shannon, Aimee, Peter, Kelley, Leigh-ann, and Lauren; 3 great-grandchildren, Emma, Brody, and Robert; and many nieces and nephews.
Pete did everything with love, patience, and a smile. He was the kind of man that you were the better for knowing. If something needed fixing, he'd be there lending a hand and probably teaching you something in the process. He loved his family, catching critters, traveling with his wife, working in the yard, and making you laugh when you least expected it. He expressed his love to each of us in only the way that he could. He was the easiest person to be around and to love, for his kindness, integrity, heart, and sharp wit. His love and spirit shine through the family he raised, the friends he made, and the life he led. Finding the right words to express who he was as a man, a husband, a father, a brother, and a grandfather is a challenge because although he is no longer with us, he will never leave our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the memory of Joseph "Pete" Ramsey to support the Adult Leukemia Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
Pete, Pere, Dad, we were blessed to have you in our lives and we will always love you.
"He was a man, take him for all in all. I shall not look upon his like again."
~ William Shakespeare
