Joan M. (Murph) Hagspiel, 65, of Ashland, died early Thursday, April 19, 2007 in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after she was stricken ill on Wednesday. She was an administrative assistant at Wellesley College, where she had worked for the past 20 years.
Mrs. Hagspiel was born in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Charles Murph and Ruth (Worley) Murph Hines. She grew up in Danville and then lived in Baltimore, MD, where she graduated from high school. She served with the U.S. Marine Corps and lived in Framingham before coming to Ashland 35 years ago. She enjoyed singing and was an especially devoted grandmother.
She leaves one daughter, Kelley Conrad and her husband Douglas of Upton; a sister, Betsy Cusimano and her husband Frank of Glen Rock, PA; two grandchildren, Regan and Ryan Conrad of Upton; two nieces; and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army, 35-45 Concord St., Framingham 01701, or to The Home for Little Wanderers, Development Dept., 271 Huntington Ave., 2nd Floor, Boston 02115.
Service Details
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the
Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
