James M. “Jim” Samarco, 54, of Upton, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2020. He was the beloved son to Margaret (Wallace) Samarco of Upton and to the late Michael Samarco, who passed away in 2016. Jim was a caring and devoted brother to Laurie and Matt, and a very proud uncle.
Jim was born at St. Elizabeth’s in Brighton, MA, on October 15, 1965. He spent his childhood years in Bellingham, MA, prior to moving to Upton, to the house his father built on Glen Ave.
He was a 1984 graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School. Jim was a manager of the basketball team and his love of high school sports stayed with him his entire life. He could be spotted at all the big high school basketball and football games and was a mainstay at the annual Clark Basketball Tournament in Worcester, as well as the state finals.
Jim was employed at Polar Beverages in Worcester, MA, and EMC Corporation for many years.
He was a history buff and loved to debate politics and current events with anyone who would dare partake. He was beyond loyal to his family and many friends. Jim was unforgettable and larger than life. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 26, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, Inc. 45 Main St. Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
