James A. Newton, Sr.

James Newton, Sr., 62, of Upton, ascended to heaven on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, following a battle with Alzheimer's disease.

James was born on June 27th, 1960, to the late James E. and Mary T. (Mariano) Newton in Boston. He married his childhood sweetheart, Cheryl M. (Baccari) Newton, 42 years ago and went on to have six children: James Jr., Carrieana, Ashley, Shannon, Courtney, and Kelsey.

James was a die-hard Boston Bruins fan, an avid bowler, and loved all rock music, but especially the Beatles and Aerosmith.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Newton of Upton, his six children; his son, James Newton Jr. of Atlanta, GA, his daughter Carrieana and son-in-law Andrew George of Upton, his daughter Ashley and son-in-law Jake Arsenault of Clinton, his daughter Shannon and son-in-law Peter Ryan of Millville, his daughter Courtney and son-in-law Dalton Briggs of Somerset, and his daughter Kelsey and son-in-law Paul Parker of Sutton, his three brothers; Ronald of Watertown, Bruce of Bellingham, and Rick of Milford, his sixteen grandchildren; friend and caretaker Joseph Rodarte, and countless other extended family and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, March 24, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.

His funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM in St. Blaise Catholic Church, 1158 S. Main Street, Bellingham. Burial will follow in St. Phillip's Cemetery, Grafton.
