James W. Jacobson, Sr., 75, of Marlboro, died peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2014 with his family at his side in UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He was the husband of Gail A. (Nickel) Osterhoudt.
Mr. Jacobson was born in Worcester, a son of the late John F. and Isabelle L. (Phipps) Jacobson, and lived in Upton before coming to Marlboro over 20 years ago. A U. S. Navy veteran, he worked as a utility technician for Corning in Marlboro and then as a part-time shuttle driver for EMC in Hopkinton in retirement. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Marlboro Ward and a temple worker at the Boston Temple. A former scoutmaster and auxiliary police officer in Upton, he was a member of the Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club and American Legion Post 132.
In addition to his wife of 19 years, he leaves eight children, Valerie Jacobson of Providence, RI, James Jacobson, Jr. of Floral City, FL, Kerryanne Jacobson of Spencer, Heather Taylor of Upton, Shawn and Jason Jacobson of Seabrook, NH, Stephanie Sweeney of NY, and Jarrod Jacobson of NH; four step-children, Thomas Osterhoudt of Marlboro, Leslie Hanna of Sandwich, Scott Osterhoudt of Dillsburg, PA, and Jeffery Osterhoudt of Hudson; a sister, Elizabeth Bennett of Spanish Forks, UT; two brothers, Martin Jacobson of CO, and David Jacobson of Mission Viejo, CA; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by another daughter, Selena Munroe, and two brothers, John and Paul Jacobson.
Service Details
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28 at 10 a.m.
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton,
with Bishop Ken McLean of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
