Helen (Davis) Nelson

Helen (Davis) Nelson of Upton passed away on July 19, 2016 in UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew "Andy" S. Nelson and her son Corey L. Nelson.
Helen was born on May 15, 1930, the daughter of the late Rose (Curran) and George H. Davis. A lifelong resident of Upton, she attended St. Mary's Academy in Milford and graduated from Boston University. Prior to her retirement, Helen worked many years in insurance, and owned and operated her own insurance business, Lyford Insurance Agency. She also worked at Hoffman Insurance and Corcoran Havlin Insurance Company, both in Wellesley.
Helen was a member of the Upton Historical Society, Finance Committee, Caper's Club, and Altar Society. For many years she was a volunteer at Milford Regional and UMass Memorial Medical Center.
She leaves behind two children, Tracy Nelson Maynard of Milford and Kevin Davis Nelson of Harwinton, CT; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of Marilyn Summers of Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Food Pantry of the United Parish of Upton or to the American Cancer Society.

Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Upton.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be from 10 to 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m.in Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.
