Helen L. (Nydam) LaRose, 79, a longtime Upton resident, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Milford Regional Medical Center following an extended period of failing health. She was the wife of John F. LaRose, who died in 1977.
Born in Whitinsville, May 4, 1929, a daughter of the late George E. and Goldie (Dow) Nydam, she lived in Upton for most of her life and was a 1947 graduate of Grafton High School.
Until retiring, Mrs. LaRose was employed as a financial secretary for over 15 years for the Mendon-Upton Regional School District. She was a former secretary and longtime member of the Upton Historical Society, former town census taker, a member of the Upton Senior Bowling League, the AARP, and the United Parish of Upton. She was also a member of the former Upton Methodist Church. Her hobbies and interests included family, summers at Horseneck Beach, bowling, knitting, latch hooking, and keyboard playing.
She is survived by her children, John R. LaRose and his wife Dawnette of Bellingham and Sharon A. Cardoza and her husband Thomas of Sutton; one sister, Betty Mott of Upton; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of Mark A. LaRose, who died in 2004, and the sister of the late Robert and Richard Nydam.

Service Details
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
The Rev. Jan Gregory-Charpentier, pastor of United Parish of Upton, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main St., Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
