Helen M. (Luhta) Baxter

Helen M. (Luhta) Baxter, 86, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Northbridge after a period of declining health. Her husband of 61 years, Walter Baxter, died in 2004.
Mrs. Baxter was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Niami) Luhta. She lived in Whitinsville before coming to Upton in 1970 and was a homemaker who was devoted to her family.
She leaves one daughter, Patricia Wood and her husband Russell of Upton; a son, John Baxter and his wife Mary of Oxford; three granddaughters, Heather Walsh and her husband Steve of Upton, Lauren Baxter of Worcester, and Elizabeth Baxter of Acton; and two great-granddaughters, Cora and Caitlin Walsh of Upton. She was also the sister of the late Impi Luhta, Eino Luhta, and Lillian Limoli.
Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maplewood Cemetery in West Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services Thursday, March 22, 2007, at 10 a.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home with the Rev. Jan Gregory-Charpentier, pastor of the United Parish of Upton, officiating.Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maplewood Cemetery in West Upton.
