George A. Thompson

George A. Thompson, 91, a lifelong Upton resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2023, after a brief illness.  He is the beloved husband of 55 years to Brenda A. (French) Thompson.

Born in Upton, he was a son of the late Laurie Sr. and Evon (St. Andre) Thompson, and was raised and educated in Upton schools.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Thompson was employed as the transportation manager for his family business, Thompson Oil and Bus Company.

George was a dedicated member of the Upton Volunteer Fire and EMS service for 25 years.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, driving senior bus trips, spending time at cape cod and most of all family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Deborah Scarnecchia and her companion Peter, of West Middlesex, PA, and Bonnie Lindsey and her husband Bill of Bellingham, his grandchildren, Nicole Quathamer and her husband Quentin of Acworth, GA, Mathew Scarnecchia and his husband Hunter Hammond, of Phoenix, AZ, his great-grandchildren, Peyton, Carson, and Hayden Quathamer of Acworth, GA, a sister, Carolyn Lutz and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews

He is predeceased by his brother Laurie Thompson, Jr. And his wife Rita of Upton.

His funeral service will be held at 10:15 AM on Saturday, September 23, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

Calling hours are from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, September 22, in the funeral home.
