George A. Moir, 95, of Upton, died early Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in Countryside Healthcare in Milford. His wife of 56 years, Elise M. (Toomey) Moir, died in 2008.
Mr. Moir was born in Graniteville, VT, the son of the late George and Margaret (McLellan) Moir. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School and worked as a foreman for Tennessee Gas Pipeline for 33 years, retiring in 1985. A WWII Army veteran who saw action in Europe, he was a member of the George L. Wood VFW Post, Marshall-Leland American Legion Post, and the NRA. He was a faithful communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.
He leaves two sons, Allan K. Moir and his wife Donna of Kennebunkport, ME and G. Andrew Moir and his wife Andrea of Surry, ME; two daughters, Elise M. Elbrecht and her husband Martin of Lake Peekskill, NY and M. Denise Smith and her husband Robert of Upton; and 6 grandchildren, Andrew and Thomas Elbrecht of NY, Cameron Smith of MT, Madeline Smith of Upton, and Amanda and Amber Moir of ME. Another son, John R. Moir, died in 2000. He was also the brother of the late Kathleen Solon, Marion Reid, and Margaret Richardson.

Service Details
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5,
from the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton,
with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church,
151 Mendon Street, Upton.
Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
