George E. Carter

George E. Carter, 89, of Upton, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 with his family at his side. Born in New Bedford, the son of Frederick J. and Lillian (McHugh) Carter, he was predeceased by his wife Marie (Sylvia) in 2005.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Judd, and her husband Larry of Upton, with whom he made his home; sisters Eileen Armstrong of St. Petersburg, FL, and Edith Lima and her husband Robert of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Frederick J. and Joseph S. Carter and Patricia Wood.
Prior to his retirement and subsequent relocation to Upton, Mr. Carter was employed by the City of New Bedford School Department.
The family would like to extend their grateful thanks and appreciation to the staff of Salmon VNA and Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion. Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton,
with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in
St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St., Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
