George M. Anderson, 71, a longtime Upton resident and a former Uxbridge resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband to Antoinette (Carusi) Anderson.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Alvin and Julia (Harnden) Anderson and was raised and educated in Dorchester, Quincy and Uxbridge. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School where he was inducted into the Uxbridge High School Sports Hall of Fame. He earned his associate degree from Dean College in Franklin.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Anderson worked for Bernat Yarns & Crafts of Uxbridge, MA as a Marketing and Trade Show Manager. Later, he was employed as a paraprofessional aide at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, as well as a driver’s education teacher at Anderson’s Driving School in Framingham, MA for many years. George took great pride in his work in the classroom and with mentoring youth.
George had a passion for coaching, he coached many Upton youth sports as well as the Nipmuc Junior Varsity softball team. He enjoyed a round of golf, watching sports, especially his beloved Patriots and Red Sox, as well as spending time with family and friends at the cottage on West Island in Fairhaven, MA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Laura Anderson of Ayer; his daughter-in-law, Joanna Anderson of Bedford: his beloved granddaughter, Eva Anderson of Bedford; and his brother William Anderson and his wife Janet, of Greenville, SC.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Anderson in 2014.
Due to the current gathering restrictions, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Upton will be held privately.
