Gaston M. "Gus" Dufresne, 85, of Upton, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 in U Mass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after an illness. His wife of 57 years, Claire M. (Blanchard) Dufresne, died in 2010.
Mr. Dufresne was born in Lewiston, ME, the son of the late Albert and Edwilda (Simoneau) Dufresne. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an auto assembler at General Motors in Framingham for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He then worked as a custodian at Blackstone Valley Tech High School in Upton before moving to Georgia in 2000. A long-time communicant of the former Holy Angels Parish in Upton, he served the church as a Eucharistic Minister. He returned to Upton to live with his daughter after his wife's death and was a faithful communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.
He leaves three daughters, Margaret Reese of GA, Lucille McCall of Hopedale, and Jo-Ann Paradis and her husband Frederic of Upton; one son, Richard Dufresne of Upton; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Lucille Godin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.
Service Details
Following cremation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated
in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon Street, Upton,
on Friday, January 23, at 10 a.m.
Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main Street, Upton.
