Frederick James Dewolfe

June 27, 1937 — January 1, 2018

Frederick James DeWolfe, 80, passed away on January 1, 2018, following a heroic, eleven-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Fred, a resident of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, is survived by his loving wife Beverly of 58 years; his son, Scott DeWolfe and his wife Elizabeth of Alfred, ME; his daughter, Sandi Klinkhamer and her husband Jon of Rehoboth; his grandchildren, Erik Klinkhamer and his fiancé Sara Agan of Sturbridge, Emma Klinkhamer of Lincoln, RI and Alexander Klinkhamer of Rehoboth; and his sister, Judy Downer and her husband David of Sarasota, FL.

Fred was born in Milford in 1937. Throughout his childhood, Fred lived in Mendon, central Florida and Milford, where he graduated from high school in 1955. Fred married Beverly, his teenage sweetheart, and ultimately settled in Upton, where they raised their two children and enjoyed their beloved dogs, Casey and Dutchie.

Fred enjoyed a 25 year career as Manager Engineering Services at Data General and EMC. He and Beverly enjoyed Saturday night dancing with friends at Upton's famous Pine Ridge Country Club. A love of antiques led Fred to frequent the well-known Brimfield Antique Show and Sawyer's Auction House for many years. After retiring in Estero Florida, Fred was active in their community's athletic activities, including water volleyball and tennis. But the most important part of Fred's life was his family. He took great joy in watching his children and grandchildren grow up and pursue their own dreams. Fred provided invaluable guidance in their education and careers. He was both coach and cheerleader to his kids and grandkids. His most famous piece of advice was "Pull up your socks!" Fred and Beverly moved back to Massachusetts in 2011 so that they could enjoy the many blessings of their grandchildren and the support of their children. He will be sadly missed by his family and all those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you support the Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of Fred, who demonstrated great courage and grace throughout his illness.
