Frank B. Royse, Jr., 69, of Upton, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury after an illness. His wife of 28 years, Nancy L. (Blakely) Royse, died in 1995.
Mr. Royse was born in Chattanooga, TN, a son of the late Frank B. and Geneva (Newcomb) Royse. He grew up in Wisconsin and came to Upton 36 years ago. He was a mail handler with the Worcester Post Office for 20 years, retiring in 1995.
A Vietnam veteran, he served 20 years with the U. S. Navy, earning the rank of Chief Boatswain's Mate and numerous service awards that included a Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Pueblo) Korea, Navy Occupation Service Medal (Germany), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Star.
A devoted grandfather who especially enjoyed times spent with his grandchildren, he also enjoyed hunting, cooking, and spending time in Maine.
He leaves one daughter, Elizabeth MacRae; his son-in-law, William MacRae, and two grandchildren, David and Sydney MacRae, all of Uxbridge.
If desired, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Upton Police Fishing Derby, 30 School Street, Upton 01568 or to the charity of one's choice.

Funeral services Monday, November 20, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial with military honors in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main Street, Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
