Francis Henry Rivard, Sr

Francis Henry Rivard, Sr., 71, a lifelong Upton resident, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at his home after a year-long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Charlotte N. (Leland) Rivard, to whom he was married for 51 years.

Mr. Rivard was born in Upton, a son of the late Azarias and Alphonsine K. (Paille) Rivard. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959 and was a member of the American Legion. He worked as a millwright with Union Local 1121 for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.

In addition to his wife; he leaves two sons, Francis Rivard, Jr. and his wife Diane of Northbridge and John Rivard and his companion Joyce Heywood of Upton; two daughters, Katherine Manning and her husband John of Marlborough and Faith Macia and her husband Christopher of Attleboro; two sisters, Donalda T. Martin of Milford and Loretta Lemoine of Mendon; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Jake Rivard, Joseph, Matthew, and Adam Manning, and Jessica and Ashley Macia; and five great-grandchildren, Anna, Kaylee, Alyssa, Travis, and Andy. He was also the brother of the late Donald Rivard.

Service Details

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 26, 2009 at 10 a.m.
in the funeral home at 45 Main Street, Upton,
with Father Laurance Brault, pastor of Holy Angels Parish, officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
