Francis L. “Frank” Maglione, 91, of Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Blair House of Milford. He was the beloved husband to the late Ruth E. (Tempelhof) Maglione. They were married for 53 years. Later in life, he spent his remaining years with long-time companion Carol Miller happily together. They were inseparable, loved to travel and spend time with their families.
Born in Meriden, Connecticut, he was a son of the late Louis A. Maglione and the late Felicia (Minucci) Maglione. He was raised and educated in Meriden Connecticut and graduated from Meriden High School.
Francis proudly served in the United States Navy as a Navigation Officer on the Battleship IOWA during the Korean War.
Frank was an exceptional cook. He loved cooking for friends and family, and eating too. Frank and Ruth were active with the Meriden Turner Society. He served on the board of the Meriden Town Crier. Member of the NRA, Beach Buggy Association and Connecticut Striper Club.
Prior to retirement, Frank was employed as the Parts Manager at Banner Oldsmobile in North Kingstown, RI and spent most of his time chartering his fishing boat, Tarkus Sportfishing out of the port of Galilee in Point Judith, RI. Throughout his life, he was a jack-of-all-trades. He and Ruth owned the Spirit House Liquor Store, The Bullet Hole Gun Shop with his brother Lou. Frank was an explosives dynamite blasting professional for many years, a meat packer, a tire changer, a milk tanker driver, steel factory worker, ran a paving crew, ran a landscape and snow plowing business, chauffeur, and mechanic to name just a few of his many endeavors. He and his brother Lou were voracious fishermen. His passion was always hunting, shooting, fishing and being out on the open water whenever possible and spending time with his family.
Frank is survived by his two children, Lee and his wife Jan of Upton, Massachusetts, Lisa M. Wild and her soul mate Oscar Villanueva Jr. of North Carolina. His brother Louis Maglione and his wife Gracie of Wallingford, Connecticut. Two grandchildren Aimee Maglione and Ivy Wild Chandler, and two great-grandchildren Brody and Brock Guertin, and niece Amanda Maglione.
Burial at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI, and a celebration of life service details will be announced in early 2025.
