Elvin "Chicky" Winchell

Elvin F. “Chicky” Winchell, 84, of Upton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023. He was the husband of Lorraine (Negus) Winchell to whom he was married to for 64 years.

Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Elvin C. and Ann M. (Kane) Winchell. He was raised and educated in Northbridge.

During the late 1950’s he served with the United States Navy attaining the rank of SN (E-3).

Mr. Winchell was employed as a machinist first for Whitin Machine Works and then for Wyman Gordon prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed boating, motorcycles, loved kids, pets and life in general.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Steven E. Winchell of Northbridge, one daughter, Wendy L. Winchell and her husband, Russell Norwood of Worcester; two sisters, Ann Hathaway and Debbie Grenier and her husband, Jeff all of Northbridge; six grandchildren, Raymond Bradford and his wife, Cara, Jennifer Bradford, Sara Gianopoulos, Britni Opatka, Laurina Opatka and Derrick Winchell and his wife, Michelle; 17 great-grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.

He is also survived by his beloved cat, Teddy and grand-dogs Dixie and Ellie.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane M. Bradford.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 11:00 A.M. in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, followed by Military Honors.
