Edward Francis McGrath II, 79, of Upton, and formerly of Brightwaters, NY, died peacefully at home after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Eugenia (Manthey) McGrath.
Mr. McGrath was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Edward F. and Mary Ellen (Broderick) McGrath. He was a graduate of St. John's University in NYC and had lived on Long Island, where he was a communicant of St. Patrick's Parish in Bay Shore, before coming to Upton about five years ago.
The CEO of IPC Corp. in Manhattan before retiring in 1995, he served proudly with the US Marine Corps during peacetime and was a Grand Master in Isshinryu Karate. Since coming to Massachusetts, he was a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Upton.
Loving father of Lisa Vena and her husband Daniel of Wake Forest, NC, Edward McGrath III and his wife Nancy of Hackettstown, NJ, Colin McGrath and his wife Marilyn of Raleigh, NC, and Erin Alcott and her husband Thomas of Upton; he also leaves one sister, Joan McCarthy of Williston Park, NY; and 13 grandchildren.
