Edward F. Hoell, Sr., 87, of Upton, and a former long-time resident of Avon, died late Friday, October 1, 2010 in Saint Camillus Health Center in Northbridge after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Mildred A. (Cusick) Hoell, who died in 1981.
Mr. Hoell was born in Cambridge, a son of the late Henry and Mary G. (Bonner) Hoell. He was a graduate of the former Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He spent his entire career working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring about 20 years ago. He lived in Avon for 45 years, where he was a communicant at St. Michael's Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, and came to Upton to live with his son a year ago.
He leaves one son, Edward F. Hoell, Jr. of Upton; four daughters, Mary Elizabeth Kenty of Norfolk, Therese Johnson and her husband Gary of Mashpee, Diane Hart and her husband Greg of Easton, and Sharon Conley and her husband Kevin of Mansfield; one brother, John C. Hoell and his wife Mildred of Reading; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Alice Hoell of Tewksbury and Margaret Connors of Waltham; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin, Edmund "Genie" Hoell, brother Henry "Buddy" Hoell, and sisters Mary W. Miller and Genevieve McAloon.
Service Details
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 a.m.
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.
Following cremation, private burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Avon.
