Edith M. Carey

Edith M. Carey, 94, of Upton and formerly of Malden and Hopkinton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at her home.  She was the beloved wife of the late Donald F. Carey, who died in 2014.

Born in Germantown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert Merrill and Doris (Cyr) Merrill Reed.  She was raised and educated in Malden.  She then obtained her associates degree at Boston University.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Carey was employed as a secretary for the Elder Housing in Grafton.

She was a member of the United Parish of Upton Church, the Upton Woman’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Antiquers Club.  She also served as a Girl Scout/ Brownie Leader.

Edith enjoyed motorcycling and traveling with her husband and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Catherine Jetté and her husband Jean-Guy, of Pepperell, Clifford Carey of Upton, and Andrew Carey of Whitinsville; and three grandchildren.

She is also predeceased by her sister, Phyllis McPheeters.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, December 10 in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

A calling hour will precede the service from 9 to 10 AM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the United Parish of Upton Church, 1 Church Street, Upton.
