Durwood A. Tetreault

Durwood A. "Curley" Tetreault, 83, of Upton, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 in St. Camillus Health Center in Northbridge after a period of declining health. A well-known local businessman and former selectman, he was the husband of Virginia V. (Poirier) Tetreault.
Curley was born in Richford, VT, the son of the late Ethan and Ila (Blair) Tetreault. He worked for the Dutch Elm Project for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and then for Upton Fuel & Construction Co. before accepting a position as supervisor with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, where he worked for 25 years. He then owned and operated P & T Bus Company of Upton for many years. He was an elected member of the Upton Board of Selectmen from 1984 to 1987 and later served as the Town's DPW Director for several years. A communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, he was an avid reader who enjoyed bird carving and woodworking, and especially loved times spent with family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he leaves three daughters, Andrea Sue Blackler of Upton, Patricia McKinney of Centerville, and Heidi Mathieu of Upton; a sister, Theresa Sullivan of Whitinsville; one brother, Merritt Tetreault of Douglas; one granddaughter and six grandsons; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Owen Tetreault.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory and in honor of his great-granddaughter Juliet McKinney to Mass. General Hospital, Lurie Center for Autism, c/o MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.

with a funeral mass at 2 p.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church,
151 Mendon St., Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
